USA is in deep deep trouble. All this is the result of dumb and corrupt politicians running our government. They better end the corn ethanol subsidies right now. Never use corn for fuel because it is one of the food itens that feed everything in our food chain. A very dumb move on the part of our dumb politicians who we voted in Office. I guess we are dumber for voting for these politicians in the first place.

I usually talk about this with at least one person a week, so it's a pretty common topic anymore. It's right up there with "So how's the weather?"

I think we're all very lucky to have jobs (those of us who do anyway) and I think that in some people's cases, it's becoming too costly to even have a job, considering how much gas prices have jumped from even just a year ago.

Let us also not forget that the value of the US dollar is in the hole. People from other countries are coming HERE to vacation because their exchange rate is phenomenal. While it might help our economy a little, it really doesn't help overall. The all powerful dollar is no more; which is another reason so many costs are so high anymore. If the value of the dollar can somehow miraculously be raised, some of our problems might come to an end.

Health care sucks. Energy costs in general suck. Real estate investments are a joke. And in my opinion, if you have a 401K, you probably won't have it for much longer. And if you're under the age of 40, you'll probably NEVER see a dime of the social security wages you've been paying in your entire life; just consider it another tax the government eats you for.

As far as 'fixing' the economy, I'm not so optimistic about that. I mean, come on, fake pictures of missiles in Iran made gas prices jump 10 cents, and it didn't even go down after it was revealed it was fake. The Dow has been at it's lowest as of recent, and I honestly feel like we're in a recession and that it's a great possibility that the stock market will crash.

I love America, but if we're all going to be broke and homeless, we might as well start walking to Mexico or Canada, as it seems most US jobs are being sent out of the country anyway. I guess we could move to India while we all still have some money.

With all that said, I fear for my children's futures. I mean, as bad as it is now, if someone doesn't get a real grasp on things and turn the country around, there will BE no future for our children. Maybe I'm naive, but the US didn't seem this bad 10 years ago, BEFORE Bush took office.

And in case no one else has noticed (even though I find it extremely obvious) isn't it funny how gas prices have almost quadrupled since Bush took office? And.... maybe I'm just stupid here, but I find it quite coincidental that Bush and Cheney are major stock holders in oil companies. Gee, it seems the best thing they ever did was make their families richer and the entire population of America poor. Where's the middle class you ask? What middle class? Bush has KILLED it. You're either poor and not poor enough to get government help, or you've got enough money to buy a small island. There is no in between anymore.

And to add to all this, why don't we mention how many LIVES we've lost in Iraq fighting the "6-week war" for the past 7 years? Bush just approved another 336 BILLION dollar budget for Iraq. For 336 BILLION dollars, we could fix the national deficit and bring value back to the American dollar. But NOOOO, let's send it overseas to rebuild OTHER people's countries. I'm sorry, America's always had their own issues we've needed to sort out. Why did we go to Iraq in the first place? And now that we're STILL there all these years later, why aren't we taking their oil to repay the debt they OWE us for all the money we've invested?

I guess to sum it all up, you're right. It sucks.

I am very worried about the U.S economy and everything seems to be going down hill for are nation. Are U.S dollar is losing its value, are debt is out of control, and people are losing their jobs. I hope everything will be fine, but my gut tells me its not going to be.

I think it could be alot worse than it is. In the 30's 2 out of 5 people had no jobs. Rignt now the eployment rate is quite low. Its around 5 percent wich is actually a healthy rate to be at. In 1875 their was the worst depression in US history it lasted 5 years and almost killed the country. So basically I dont think its wonderfull but I dont think its all that bad. The economy at the moment could be alot worse and it is actually slowly turning for the better with the housing market slowly recovering. Things could be alot worse so think about that.

Personally, I feel that it is bad at the moment. It has hurt people and has strained the middle class. I agree it has been harmful and I won't deny it. However, I feel that it will get better. Its normal for an economy to have its rough spots and will rise (economies go through times boom and busts). Also the US has been through worse problems in history and made it- it is a strong nation, one that can overcome so many challenges.
