Make yourself a Myspace, friend other people like you, and word will get around.
There's YouTube of course but I think Myspace works better.

Myspace.. and there are various artists sites which you should check out. Also ilike can be pretty useful. Make yourself a facebook page and buy an advertisment through them. Also look up local underground and independent labels in your area. That'd be a good place to start. I live in a college town so we have coffee shoppes and other small venues where unknowns can get a free chance to perform. Is there anything like that where you live?

There are many ways to get your music out there.

1. Join Social networking pages such as Bebo, Facebook, Myspace, Soundcloud and Twitter. Although Myspace isnt exactly the big thing anymore
2. Set up a website for your band or artist and link to all your networks.
3. hand out freebies at gigs, people will forget you if you do.
4. Search google for articles, use search terms such as "music promotion tips" or "ways to promote your music", you will come accross loads of articles on the subject, read them all as each are different.
5. Keep business cards and demo CD's on you at all times, you never know who your gonna meet.
6. you have friends dont you, give them free copies.
