What career can I pursue that involves literature and writing?
I'm really good at English but I don't want to be a teacher. I love debating topics, hearing and talking about problems going on, writing, etc. I don't want to be a teacher or writer. Help?

Thanks for asking.
I majored in English at college, and poetry too. I made a slideshow about what to do with an english degree. http://www.scribd.com/doc/25123144/Life-...rts-Degree Here's what I did. I worked as a development intern at Planned Parenthood. Then I went to Indonesia and volunteered in a baby orphanage and wrote my first grant. I came back, took some classes at the Boston Center for adult education, at the Foundation Center in NYC, and decided to become a fundraising consultant. After that I worked for a number of different nonprofits helping them write direct mail, create marketing materials, and run events. Then i worked for a humane society as a development assistant. Then I worked for a domestic violence shelter as a development associate. Then i worked for a social justice organization as a development officer. all the while I was still consulting as a fundraising consultant for different nonprofits. Then I was a development director for a small community orchestra. Now i teach webinars and consult with different nonprofits. I'v got a free e-newsletter and blog with tons of posts where I talk about how to do fundraising. It's a wonderful career for people who like to be persuasive, speak, and write. Here's a list of all of my career posts about fundraising: http://www.wildwomanfundraising.com/free...ives-page/ I've written a book about how to get your first fundraising job, it's called The Wild Woman's Guide to Fundraising, and you can read more about it here: http://wildwomanfundraising.com/store Was this helpful?
