Anarchists are rioting in Greece.

Riots were sparked by the shooting of a fifteen year old boy by police. Tension has existed for decades. Root cause - alleged preferential treatment in the Greek justice system for the wealthy.

I read some blurb . . . I'm not sure where I read it but the larger point is I didn't get the information watching television . . . that the Greek protesters issued a call to Europe at large to protest against economic policies used to combat the oncoming recession

Greece police shot a young boy during an altercation and the country has gone mad looting and fighting th police. As far as France and Spain are concerned I believe they are protesting the politics and the economy and education plan. French Education Minister Xavier Darcos said he would negotiate the package "without taboos" with students, a striking reversal for a minister known for his intransigence.

Protestors vowed to carry on with nationwide demonstrations on Tuesday and Thursday. "We want reform to correct the problems in public education, but we won't accept this one in any form," warned student leader Alix Nicolet, who says students particularly hate Darcos' proposal to reorganize the final years of high school. They are also angry that cost-cutting this year eliminated 11,200 public education jobs and that another 13,500 may go in 2009. "How can the government claim it has no money to continue funding public education when it can come up with billions and billions to support banks and finance groups?" This is what happens when you have socialism and you cut the peoples free funding they protest instead of going out to work.

In Greece they are rioting over the shooting of a 15 year old boy. In the USA the police are trained to shoot to kill. It is probably the same way in other countries. For the safety of the police it is a good policy. I think the fact that they can protest is a sign that globally, people want more of a say in the government.
