Longboarding?
Why hasn't longboarding caught on in the skater circles? I had a Dreggs (sp?) when i was younger and i could do some decent stuff because it was short enough, but i also had a much larger one, but i forget what it was called. I always got a lot of satisfaction riding the hills around my area, and still do on rare occasions, but i always felt kind of alone in this sport. Why?

Longboarding is making huge strides in popularity. Sales of longboards increased 1600% in 2006. It is most popular with older skaters (20+). I've found longboarders tend to stick to small groups. Many times skaters will take their longboarders just to get a bit of fresh air and to unwind. This is how I spend most of my longboarding, especially after houd of skating at the park. Longboarding is popular around university campuses and where there is an abundance of hills, parking garages and few restrictions on skateboards. Having an overall good skate scene is beneficial and the local availability of longboards at skate shops is a necessity.

To find longboarders in your area try cruising around at night near the above areas, if you are in a large enough city, you are bound to find some.

Ask at skateparks and skate shops.

Put up fliers in the areas longboarders ride. Set up a place and time to meet. A skatepark is good. You can also post this in Myspace and Facebook.

Check out http://forums.oldmamarmy.com there is a longboarders lounge forum. Become a member so you can connect with other longboarders in your area.
