What does it mean if a girl compliments your shirt?

[I WILL GET INTO MIT/Harvard/Princeton/Yale]

Today in physics class we had to get up in front of the class to share our motion "stories". Right before I began speaking, a very good looking girl sitting close to wear I was standing said, "I like your shirt," and I responded with a quick, "thank you". I was very happy though because this is the first time and especially by someone that is so good looking!

I felt ashamed afterwards for not giving her a nicer response but then again I had to start sharing my story so she probably understood...but it still feels like a missed opportunity. Well, what can you do?

Anyways, I was wondering what you guys think. What does this mean if a girl compliments you like this?

As a side note, she is the joyful kind of funny girl that laughs often. I think her complimenting is not a very rare thing anyways. I have a feeling this is normal for her to compliment like this.

From the way that you described her, it does sound like she is just a nice, complementing kind of girl and that she liked your shirt. I also think that she did that right before you we're about to speak to give you a little confidence boost.

As a (teenage) chick, I never really care much about guys' shirts, and I don't know anyone who does. She was probably trying to find something polite to say to you. If she just randomly complimented you though, she probably is interested in you, maybe as a friend or other. It sound to me like she wanted some reason to talk to you, I know I would probably only compliment a guy on his shirt if he was a friend, the shirt was super awesome (not just striped, if it had a funny logo or was neon or something), or if I had some reason I wanted to talk to him.

I compliment a lot of people, both guys and girls if I like their shoes, shirt, outfit, hair,etc. it doesn't mean anything.
