Why do some people make fake social networking profiles ?

like on facebook,twitter,foursquare etc..most of them are female profiles with hot profile pictures and with maximum friends?

Usually so people can bitch and moan or wear a "mask" so they feel better about themselves. I have a few friends with fakes, but that is so people can let out their feelings without actually letting people know that they are saying it.

They are spam bots. They make a "hot girl" account to lure people onto it and then they will say something on their pictures like "View more of my pictures here" with a spam link. That's how people get their accounts hacked.
