I'd like to know what a blue glow under me on twitter means if its possible to recieve a DM able see it?

So I got on twitter and there was a blue glow under me on twitter and i clicked on it and it took me to my profile where from there the direct messages section had a dot on the left of it what does that mean because i clicked on it and i didnt see any new DM .. .. By any chance does anybody know if DM sometimes dont get to you on time or get lost or you simply cant see them and if so is there way i can try to see them or get them back ?? Please help me someone and thankyou
