If your magazine has a.com domain, no one need know it's based in Spain. If it has a .es, then I would buy another relevant domain name and have it point to your magazine. The beauty of the internet is that it doesn't matter where something is produced (especially a non-tangible like an online publication) as you are connected to a "world-wide web".

The bigger question is: for what and who is your magazine? The focus of the information/entertainment you publish dictates your target audience. Once clear, there are numerous ways to promote it via social media sites, relationship building partnerships, strategic alliances and so on. A specific plan/strategy to build your readership is needed, or else you can spend a lot of time and money shooting in the dark.

Advertising (except, perhaps, very demographically-targeted Facebook ads) is a waste of money. Since publishing (traditional and online) derives its revenues from advertisers, building up your "subscriber base" (even if it's free to subscribers) will help drive your ad sales.

If you'd like to discuss your project/business in greater detail, please feel free to contact me.
