WHy do I get thi smessage when i try to set up my phone for text on Twitter?

I am trying to recieve text messages from the people I follow on twitter but I get this message Note: We currently don't support sending SMS notifications to this number. You may still verify your phone and update Twitter, but we won't deliver to your phone. How do i fix this?

I have that same thing. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix it is to get a new phone. In case you don't know, SMS (Short Message Service) is just a fancy word for text messaging. And Twitter apparently doesn't support your type of phone. Maybe because it's an old phone? Mine is and Twitter won't send messages to it.
So to use Twitter you have to go ON to Twitter to look at what other people have posted, it won't send text messages to you when people tweet about what they're doing.

Generally whether they can SMS you or not depends on your cell phone company. If your company is not supported, they can not text message you.
