Touchdown! I posted that info earlier this morning on YA. Zero lib comments - go figure?

THESE EMAILS WERE SENT BY THE STATE DEPT "AS THE ATTACK WAS GOING ON!" AND - WHY WERE THE EMAIL ADDRESSES (including the White House Situation Room) LATER "DELETED?"

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/10/…

"A series of internal State Department emails obtained by Fox News shows some of the initial assessments of last month's deadly consulate attack in Libya, including one email within hours of the attack that noted the group Ansar al Sharia had claimed responsibility.

The emails provide some of the most detailed information to surface about what officials knew in the initial hours after the attack. And it again raises questions about why U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice, apparently based on intelligence assessments, would claim five days after the attack that it was a 'spontaneous' reaction to protests over an anti-Islam film.

Ansar al Sharia has been declared by the State Department to be an Al Qaeda-affiliated group. A member of the group suspected of participating in the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi has been arrested and is being held in Tunisia.

The emails obtained by Fox News were sent by the State Department to a variety of national security platforms, whose addresses have been redacted, including the White House Situation Room, the Pentagon, the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence.

Fox News was told that an estimated 300 to 400 national security figures received these emails in real time almost as the raid was playing out and concluding. People who received these emails work directly under the nation’s top national security, military and diplomatic officials, Fox News was told."

I would say so... especially since they went above and beyond to cover up by violating someone's freedom of speech and had them arrested in order to keep up the charade... If that isn't a severe abuse of power in order to cya, I don't know what is...

I think so. No one died in Watergate. The Obama administration could have tried to help them but did nothing and they all died. All because Obama and Hillary wanted to look good for the election.

Reuters is also reporting this happened, not just Fox.

False! no cover-up! These viral chain e-mails do not come from any authority, just radical right wing pundits. No, there was no cover-up, that is just nuts! Fox news is so biased, that they aren't "news" they are just as radical as the right wing extremists. They don't inform with absolute truths, and if they have someone on with a different opinion, they drown them out, and don't let them say much. Being an independent, I want to know as much as I can. I have found that today's republicans are way too far to the right, and only interested in their agenda, and I have also discovered that racism is alive, and well among the republican party. There has been many, many attempts made by Fox news to discredit the President, especially, with "scare tactics". And if you are smart, you should seek out the fact checkers, your future is at stake. Don't get wrapped up in all their sensational, and unbelievable rhetoric, and seek out what is true, and not true. Be smart, seek more news outlets, then fact check. You clowns are nut cases to even consider Fox as a reputable news outlet.

A top State Department security official in Libya told a congressional investigator that he had argued unsuccessfully for more security in the weeks before Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed. Department officials instead wanted to “normalize operations and reduce security resources,” he wrote in an email Tuesday. Senior State Department officials acknowledged to Congress on Wednesday that they had turned down requests to send more U.S. military personnel to guard diplomatic facilities in Libya shortly before the Sept. 11 attack that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. But Charlene Lamb, deputy assistant secretary in charge of diplomatic security, argued that security at the U.S. mission in Benghazi was appropriate for known threats related to the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States.

The records obtained by Reuters consist of three emails dispatched by the State Department's The text said the State Department's regional security office had reported that the diplomatic mission in Benghazi was "under attack.

A second email, headed "Update 1: U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi" and timed 4:54 p.m. Washington time, said that the Embassy in Tripoli had reported that "the firing at the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi had stopped and the compound had been cleared." It said a "response team" was at the site attempting to locate missing personnel.

A third email, also marked SBU and sent at 6:07 p.m. Washington time, carried the subject line: "Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack." The message reported: "Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli."

Every email was ignored and as a result Ambassador Stevens was brutally killed as well as the 4 men assigned to protect him and the embassy. Then Obama described the incident as a "small bump". He clearly is not fit to hold the office of president of the US!
