Companies and their facebook page?
It seems to be getting ridiculous with facebook these days. Practically every radio/tv commercial now has different companies wanting you to like their facebook page. Seriously? Why would I want to like a facebook page for: cars, toothpaste, whatever? Is there any benefit to liking a company's facebook page?

Hi,

The idea is so that companies benefit from using social networks like Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, LinkID, etc. It allows companies to push traffic to their main websites, therefore increasing exposure. Obviously, this can be annoying to some people since they do not want businesses contacting them - and to businesses it is currently free advertising, as long as its not gaming applications which to Facebook means big revenue.

Its another way advertising. Company wants you to like their page to be updated on their products or services. They want more people to know about their products/services. Because advertising in facebook is cheaper than as of advertising on TV, and radios.

Well you got benefits if you truly like the company, so you can see updates , whats new, or even contest. Some company makes some contest so you can win prizes. ^__^

1) Get regular news & other updates from your favourite brands / products / tv shows / celebs, etc....... and in return you can comment back, and give them feedback. Big companies often get accused of being remote from their customers compared to small local businesses (of which Big companies often were themselves before they got successful)........... being on Facebook eases the problem a bit.

2) They often run contests & promotions (e.g. win trips, products & promo merchandise... or get x% off your next purchase with such and such a code).
