HELP WITH MY STORY I'M WRITING...?
So in my story, the main character works in a PR firm, (public relations). What kind of businesses does a PR firm usually work with?
@Charles... Then why don't you tell me what they do, instead of completely not answering the question? I thought PR made companies look good, like publicists. Not trying to be sassy, and I could be completely wrong! But I posted this question because I didn't quite understand PR firms. So please answer my question Smile Thanks!

You need to do some research. Assuming you understand that PR firms are not advertising agencies (a lot of people think they are the same), every business and every walk of life works with PR at some level.

Hi Kayla,

A PR firm works for a variety of clients to build and grow their business through marketing, media relations, and strategic and crisis communications.

Clients may range from big corporations to small family run businesses. Public relations firms may assist in areas including hospitality, banking, healthcare and hospitals, commericial development, telecommunications, and real estate, to name a few.

A PR firm might begin by finding out its client's long and short term goals and conducting a competitive analysis. They would then identify the target audience and begin to construct a strategic plan to acheieve those goals. Many clients hire PR firms to help them with a marketing plan. Marketing plans include everything from advertising and logo development to promotions and sales and website creation.

Internet and social media strategy are also a big part of a PR expert's work. A PR specialist needs to continually monitor what is being said about the client both in the news and throughout social media outlets including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Topix forums, etc. PR firms also work with clients on Search Engine Optimization, a way to increase visibility of the client's business in search engines like Google.

Hope this helps!
