Nothing really special. Just a hashtag that makes a certain word stand out more than others. If you're lucky you might be able to make it a trending topic. heh.

I went to #school. - I assure you.. people will SEE this tweet w/ school sticking out like it does heh.

if someone types in the word you have after the hashtag in the search box, your post will come up along with other peoples who hastagged the same word. for example, if they go:
people are annoying cry babies #just sayin
and someone else goes:
#just sayin, people need to grow up.
and you type in "just sayin" in the searchbox at the top, both of those posts will come up.

The hash tag # represents the topic being discussed, in twitter. For example the topic is Internet technology, then in twitter it can be written as #InternetTechnology. The site has a limitation of 140 characters that can be used per tweet.

However, twitter is one of the most commonly used social networking platform. Internet marketers use it, in the form of social media marketing to promote their business or drive more traffic to their own website or blog. Also, when you have large twitter follower, then you might be approached by advertisers to promote their product in return for a commission, giving you opportunity to make money online.
