What kind of green jobs are out there?
I just got a BA and I wanna work in something green. Are there any jobs out there that are green like contributing positively to the environment?

I'm willing to go to grad school too.. since my BA was in marketing/advertising.

There are tons of green jobs, and many are in demand! Here are some examples: environmental engineer, environmental lobbyist, environmental journalist, environmental travel agent, environmental scientist, environmental photographer/artist, forester, environmental lawyer to name a few.

In general, the most lucrative "green jobs" are those you create yourself.

Your BA is only good for working in the ad department of an ad company. The door to lobbying might be possible if you actually had hands on experience with various technologies or were politically connected.

Your better bet- decide what area you want to get into in a "green" industry and see what the requirements are for a local company that is in that field. Yes, you will feel like a prostitute, but that will certainly be the case if you go to work for ad agency- there you follow their lead and produce ads, even if it is for a company you do not like or see as evil. You will have no opinion on anything- to do so will cost your job.

But this is a question you should ahve asked yourself 4 years ago.

Alternately, go invest in HD video gear, learn how to use it, edit it, and start producing your own videos. Start with volunteer work with a larger local group you agree with, and network.

Without physics, chemistry, math or engineering in your transcript, you are pretty much out of luck unless you strike out on your own and start producing videos. Start with youtube first on small scale, get a lnk'd in page, a facebook page, and other social media pages you post with your contact info and credentials. It may start out as an instructional video for a lighting company, do not turn anyone down, and in the meantime familiarize yourself with all the literature that you can lay your hands on relating to energy, green energy systems, and the peripheral technologies like LED's. Algae diesel, membrane technology, materials, building codes, etc.

2 blogs that may be of some help in the future are:
http://altencircuits.wordpress.com/
http://altenciruits.wordpress.com/

The first one will give you some understanding of electronics, however at the moment it is still in it's formative stages, the latter one assumes you already have some understanding of electronics.

I know the blogger.

It is no sin to get out and start making a name for yourself with videos- just make sure they are high quality from the start, and know your subject material and live it. Too many do not.
