Someone took something I need back. What should I do?

I go to a small private school. For this school I bought a j crew blazer for 200 bucks. This is alot of money and my parents except me to take care of it. Today I layed it on top of my things by my locker to go to the bathroom. When I came back someone took it! Now I 'm freaking out and I don't know what to do. I told the principal and other adults but they don't know what they can do about it! So what should i do?
The issue is that we have to have this blazer as part of our uniform. And half the school has the j crew blazer....

easy just go to the deans office and report it missing, also ask around to see if anyone as seen it.

Post about it on social media (whether your FB, twitter, what have you) calling out whoever stole your blazer. If you have a picture of it, post it too. Or maybe also post a picture of it from google if you can find one. Even if none of your friends know the perp, they could be like, "Oh, wait! I saw that blazer just a while ago!" The sooner you do this the BETTER.

Ask anyone who was at the scene if they saw anyone pass by. It may seem crazy but if possible, ask the principal if you can see any security camera footage on the day and time the blazer was stolen. I'm surprised they said they didn't know what to do.

A private school does not get an exception from the law, unless i am mistaken, if you can get around telling your parents that is was stolen, then the authorities could do something. the very least is the school could riemburse you the cost or some of it.

You just have to be honest with your parent, and tell them someone stole it when you went to the bathroom, and you even told the principal. -They won't see it as your fault. However, if you deny it was ever stolen because you are afraid of getting into trouble, they will find out eventually and you will get in trouble for not telling them earlier.

Also, do look around to see who is wearing your j crew blazer, the suspect is obviously someone from your school, and him/her will want to wear it in the future, so it won't take a long time before you see someone with a j crew blazer.
