will 500MB be enough for factime and twitter/facebook? ( iPhone 4)?

Not really but you can connect to Wi-Fi networks and your carrier won't charge for that.

i get 250mb on my phone and, although i dont use facetime which i assume takes up quite a bit, its very rare that i use all 250 mb. and im on the internet quite a bit. so 500mb should be more than enough for what you're using it for.

Not likely... (assuming you mean a data plan per month)...
It should be enough for twitter or Facebook as long as you don't click on too many photos, but Facetime will definitely drain the 500MBs immediately. For Facetime use I would suggest at the very least a 2GB plan. And only for very very limited, and short use.
