In an increasingly difficult job market what stops me from straight up lieing in my resume?

If i apply to a company and say i have a masters in buisness administration from south america (im not a citizen of the united states) what is the worse that can happen? other than some embarrasment if they do a background check.
I dont have a job now....
Also is forging a transcript ilegal?

Well, you get fired for one thing...or just not hired (since the background check will turn up the lack of diploma)...also, most companies require an official transcript from the university/college (direct from the uni/college, not through your hands).

Forging a transcript is illegal - if you get the job and they find out that you lied on your application - they will fire you. International degrees do not hold the same weight in the U.S. as U.S. accredited colleges do. But, if you put the school down, it is probably unlikely they will call the school to check, but there's always a possibility, its best to just tell the truth. If you expand your network on social media you may be able to have access to more job listings.
