Take fashion class in high school, my old school offered it, hopefully yours does as well.
Even though there are no specific educational requirements for a career in fashion, most designers have a degree, diploma, or certificate in fashion or clothing design. These programs are available at a number of colleges and universities across the country.

Putting together a strong portfolio of your work is also essential to starting a career in fashion design.

Many fashion designers gain hands-on experience by training with experienced designers for a number of years. They may start off by doing simple jobs like cutting patterns, and gradually work their way up in the industry.

A degree in business, in particular one that includes courses in marketing and merchandising, is useful. An aspiring fashion designer might also benefit from courses in the history of fashion, art, and computer-aided design (CAD).

Try taking these:
Grade 11

English
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Visual Arts
Business & Management
Fashion
Drafting & Design

Grade 12
