Catholics: What would you do if you went to a church where the priest was wearing a hoodie and jeans?
When I was explaining once how the pastor speaking at my church one day was giving his sermon in a hoodie and jeans to a bunch of Catholics they sounded pretty appalled and couldn't believe it.

Also what if the priest asked everyone to text him questions about the sermon to answer at the end or use a smartphone to go on Twitter and tweet reactions to it with a certain identifiable hashtag? Catholics seemed to not believe a church could ever encourage people to use their cell phones during the service.

Would not bother me at all some where the military uniforms and say Mass in the fields at times of war clothes mean nothing.I would never text in church.

Because the focus is different. If Catholics want to study the Bible, they go to a Bible study. If they want to hear music, they go to a concert. If they want to hear inspiring speakers, they go to a speech.

In case you haven't noticed, even the Holy Father is into the social media thing.

But until you figure out what Mass is supposed to be, you'll never really "get" Catholics.

I am a Roman Catholic and when I moved to Atlanta Georgia the Church I joined was not built yet, because there were not enough funds. Therefore, we had Mass in a high schools gymnasium and once the Priest was wearing a basketball Jersey and shorts for Mass and after our Church was built the Priest gave mass in his jeans and shirt. The clothes don't make a good Priest. The Priest could give Mass in any clothes he wants, but the Priest choose to respect God by wearing appropriate clothing through out Mass. It sounds as if your Church chooses not to show God respect by wearing clothes that most of the world would not where to Church. But that is one of the great parts of Religion you can choose to pay your respect to God in your own way. You do not have to follow the world. I don't know of any place that teaches anything that allows cell phone usage during a Mass or a class because it is considered rude to using a cell phone in such a setting ,Ecclesiastes 3:1. There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:. I guess your leader stops his mass every time some one texts him/her so he/her can text back or does he/she wait until after mass. I will remain a happy Roman Catholic and you can continue to praise God in your own way. The bottom line is that we both praise God which means we both live a righteous life.

you should be more worried about where your preacher got educated, not what catholics think about the attire of a priest. And, your phone should be turned OFF in church as a sign of respect for the people who actually want to hear the sermon. there is something strange about your preacher. I suspect its not being educated in religion
