Anyone really know what Twitter is really for?

Hi, i have a twitter but recently i've become sick of it. im bored to death. it's takes my time away constantly having to update for followers. i want to delete it, who cares if someone ate at pinkberry and then takes a picture of the pinkberry that they were in. What to do? Think it will get better by being on twitter? maybe just for news, real news- not someone who bought a brand new purse. plz comment. Thanx.

There are many sites where you can get news of some importance. If you're interested in catching up with a friend, make a lunch date. I think it's a complete waste of time.

Hi I have been on Twitter way too long myself, i left it last year for abt 7months as it got boring, and i came back, and all u get is people fighting abt whose the best celeb, or stuff thats got so boring and useless, and what with twitter being down so much, all the robots and whales for hours and hours a day, the site is becoming totally useless. I know theres some good people on it, and u can get news, but you can have a 1000 followers and no one talks, unless u give them a shoutout, and those people with 10000 followers treat the new people like crap which i dont, i always ff shoutout those with small followers, even if they dont say thank you... But it does waste so much time, you can sit there for hours and theres no news or aanything worthwhile then suddenly there goes a flood of tweets that are ok and damn twitter whale stops u replying... If they fixed all the hundreds of bugs on the site and actually made it work 24/7 and not just when the usa&justin bieber fans are asleep then it might be ok. The whole part of a site is to be able to use it and tweet when YOU want, not at 3am when they have capacity.
- the world had its myspace and facebook, and thousands of ppl are deleting their twitters, even celebrities like miley and amanda bynes deleted, we need a new site, something fun and cool that actually works. twitter really is one of those sites that you love it or hate it but even when u like it the site gets boring and p*sses you off, id love it if it closed, id miss my twitter friends, but the real world is a lot more fun and exciting thansitting there hoping 140 letters will make ur day.
- id say keep it open, keep ur friends, but dont be on it everyday, if someone really wants to ask u or tell u something they can dm, and then u know its worth checking, me im bored everyday my life sucks right now and im going thru a lot of crap so i just use it to waste away the down times until i can get off and get well again. I think ur question will get lots of different replies. Twitter has its uses, just dont waste ur whole live sitting there waiting for a tweet, go out make a real friend, explore the world, have some real fun. hope u will be ok.

Twitter is for pompous a-hoIes who use it to draw attention to themselves. If I had a twitter account, it would just say "LOOK AT ME!!!" every 3 hours.
