If you have something to sell and need a huge population than FaceBook

Personal I'd say Google, and more private and easier to control

Twitter was never my thing, and from my experience, and the fact everyone can read everything, it serves no purpose with limited ability to write all out (you know things are bad when you need to shorthand a URL)

There are better social sites you can use if you are actually sticking to just friends and family! Used to be Multiply, before they turned to pure commerce, where they had it set up more like linked websites, completely private and controlled, and design was awesome!!!
