ive had my youtube account for many years now and would like to change my name can i do this without a new account ?

no you cant change your username on youtube.. i tried that and it doesnt work.

You can change the name of your Youtube Channel anytime. But you cannot change your Youtube username once it is choosen.i.e. http://www.youtube.com/username

This is not only the case with Youtube. 99% of websites will not let you change your username once it is selected, including Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.
