How do i apologise for trolling?

I have been trolling a political forum for over a year, saying things i don't really believe just to rile people. But i want to stop and take part in the forum in a normal manner. What is the best way to apologise without sounding like an idiot?

say "i'm sorry" ... what's the ppoint of trolling anyway? and it depends how people will react. facebook? twitter? people on twitter are semi-nicer than facebook-ees. if you've been insulting people and shit, i recommend you delete the public forum and make a new one. don't let anyone know it was you running the page.
