Is their any chance Facebook going public anytime soon and having an IPO?

This is a company I would like to invest in if it went public. I imagine it would balloon quickly like Google did which is currently trading at $600 +.

Yes, it will go public within the next several years. It may be difficult getting shares in it, however. After Goldman Sachs bought a stake in Facebook, they got investors asking for a lot of shares. They responded that they would only be able to deliver them a fraction of the shares they asked for, if any at all.

In a private placement document sent to a select group of potential investors, Facebook said it plans to increase its number of shareholders above 500 this year. If they do, it will force them to either begin disclosing detailed financial information or go public by April 2012. It would be to their benefit to come public prior to having to disclose their financial details. So, a Facebook IPO could happen in early 2012.
