how would i describe a murder scene in details?

for my english class we have to write an essay. i have to describe in vivid details what i saw when i walked out the house and saw a dead body lying on my porch. i just need a starter can you please help!! thanks.

The body was slumped over the railing like a sack of old potatoes left out for weeks. The blood from the stab wound in his back had ran through his shirt, staining it a deep crimson. He looked as if he was in a struggle, but he was overcome at the last moment, as that very stab wound looked vicous, and torn around the edges, carelessly made, unlike the artful slashes on his face and arms. His eyes were still open and glassy, a final stare into the void as he passed, not even knowing what had killed him. It was a sad demise for a poor man.

I was checking my Twitter account to see if I had any new followers, when I thought I should check the mail. Maybe I had some new letters from my best friend. Just then I stood up. I striped towards the door, twisted the handle, and made my way outside. My eyes stayed upon the mailbox. I couldn't wait to see if I had a new letter. Then, suddenly, I felt some goop on my feet. Then I bumped into something, something big. Weird. I looked straight down.
A gasp flew out of my mouth. there was a body, A human body right there. Surrounded by blood. There were still blood gushing out from the wounds.

The air is silent after my scream of shock and terror. The body was face down naked and a blood trail follows it up the stairs to the porch. It has cuts and stab marks all along its back with parts of skin missing from what looks like bullet wounds. The head has dried blood, pieces of meat, and the shrapnel of a bullet coming out of the back. The skin is covered in red and the only parts it hasn't is covered with flies starting to plant their maggots in it. The smell is horrible and the smell of my fresh vomit doesn't help much either.

...sorry if it was a little too gruesome for a school project, i don't know if you thought it was.
