In order to be a psychologist or teach psych at the university level, you need a doctorate in psychology. To be a therapist, you need a Master's with an empahsis in Child and Family Counseling (MFCC). To be a guidance counselor, you need a Master's plus an extra credential/certificate. With a general Master's degree, you can teach psych at the community college level. With a bachelor's degree, you can do social work, like child or adult protective services. You can teach high school, but you must have your teaching credential. I am not sure about what the options are in business marketing, but if you did major in it, it would be very useful to minor in psychology. That way, you have an edge as to knowing the psyche of clients, populations, consumers, etc, as well as useful ways to develop relationships with them. Knowing how and why people think like they do is one of the keys to success in marketing in any business.

Follow your heart, my grandmother told me more than once,
'Tim, if U don't like the work U are doing, U are not doing the right work'. Business marketing may be more lucrative, but psychology would definately float my boat!! Timothy :o) Ads |
