ive just signed up for twitter and I don't get the following thing..... (It's not my first time on social networking site, I have facebook), can someone give me an explanation???

Facebook is a social networking site & Twitter is a micro blogging site. It's different from Facebook. You won't find the adding friend concept in twitter like Facebook. Instead you can follow people and you will be able to read their updates, their tweets. For example if you like a particular singer who's on Twitter, you can follow that singer and you can see their updates. Similarly people can follow you as well. If your tweets are interesting, people will start follow you. You can send direct messages to to people who follow you. Direct messages messages cannot be seen other then the sender & the receiver. If you want you can make your tweets protected, in that way, only people following you can will be able to see your tweets.

You can start by following some people and responding to their tweets by replying or re-tweeting (RT).

When you Follow Someone All it is you See there Updates in your Home Page and So On Kinda Like Subscribing to Someone on Facebook
