How to get more clients for our clinic?
We are a small clinic with acupuncture and registered massage therapy. We don't have a lot of money to spend however what are your suggestions that we can do to get more clients and gain more awareness.

One reasonable advertising vehicle would be to offer a free session to potential on his/her birthday. We all have a bit of an ego and we remember those who remember us. It really is a "word of mouth" ad that should work based on your description of your clinic.

There are 2 important elements required to get more clients/awareness for your clinic.
1. Audience
2. Your Offer/s (publicity)

Getting Audience
1. Offer free talks on benefits offered through acupuncture / massage therapy. How? Spread the word through existing customers or friends and family members. Offer a referral benefit. eg. free 1 acupuncture treatment or discounts for x number of referrals.
2. Put up ads on community bulletin board about your talks.
3. Post ads on local free community classifieds and online classifieds
4. JV with other non competing business, yet complementary to your clinic ...eg. Health food stores, Organic shops, Sports centers/ clubs, etc.

Your Offers
1. Offer promotions/ offers which will compel your audience to try your services.
2. Can also organize a contest so your clients will return for more to win prizes.

The above are just a few out of countless ways you can use and additionally:
By using local business Internet marketing methods:
- list your clinic on Google and Online Search Directories so that your customers can find you easily from the Internet search engines and you can also use web social media platform such as facebook pages - to promote your clinic and put up offers to send more clients to your clinic.

Many small business are now taking advantage of this to boost up customers as the viral effect of facebook pages spreads across millions of users in facebook. Message me if you need help on this. You'll be surprised how easily and even more customers can find you online through this methods compared to traditional marketing methods, giving you better ROI on your marketing dollars.

I have used Groupon (http://www.livingsocial.com) to offer special promotions to get patients/clients in the door, to great effect.

Another crucial area is web presence. If your website does not appear in the top 10 organic search returns, you need to invest in a pay-per-click ad program (Google Adwords, Microsoft Adcenter).

Hand out Business Cards! Talk to people at the supermarket. Talk to people at the local pub. Talk to people at the gas station. Have a 30 second spiel about how you can help and Hand Out Your Cards! It works.

Referral Credits. Existing patient refers someone to you, thank them with at least a 20% credit (expressed as a $$$ value).

Print advertising is extremely hit or miss. My personal experience is that the smaller the community, the greater return print advertising in a local weekly paper. It is expensive though to buy an ad large enough to get ROI.

Yellow Pages advertising is worthless in my experience, although, your area might be different...

Candidly, my modest advertising expenditures for last year was over $7,500.00.

Text messaging is the wave of the future. You can text message coupons, discounts, specials, etc. to your client base using http://www.yeptext.com. Use the Promo code Spring11 to get 30% off your first month. I am a Physician and started using this. I put a sign at the front desk to get people to text my 'yepword' to 41242 and you cannot believe the number of patients doing this. Then, once a week, we offer a discount to patients coming in and showing the promo to the receptionist. You will love it, and it goes viral quickly....patients tell their friends and well, you know the rest.Good luck.
