What the heck is following someone on Twitter?

Sounds lame! I had a Twitter account that lasted all of a day because I couldn't figure out what was so special about it. I don't understand following someone would you please explain it and why it's "so cool?"

Lol. Afraid it is beyond me as well. I lasted a day as well. I think some very sad people follow celebs so they can pretend they really know them. It's all rather pathetic.

I follow quite a few people on Twitter, not because it's cool. Twitter can be a useful source of information and humour. I use it for finding jobs. Yes job vacancies are tweeted by various organizations.

As for celebs? Well they can be useful for info on gigs and such.
