If you don't feel comfortable doing something usually is because this is not a trusted website go to the well stablished ones like amazon or eBay. I do not recommend Craigslist either. Don't use your credit card in this website if you don't know it or if you're not sure of what you're doing if you don't want to end up as a scam victim.

If you want, the internet version of the phonebook (it's called whois lookup) can tell you this:

Domain Name: HOURGLASSANGEL.COM
Created on: 13-Jul-07
Expires on: 13-Jul-13
Last Updated on: 14-Jul-12

Administrative Contact:
Soto, Ruben r.soto@hourglassangel.com
Hourglass Angel
7501 W Cermak Rd
M7
North Riverside, Illinois 60546
United States
+1.7084424533

I often use this and Google maps to check if the address exists, and then, if I'm still suspicious I email the contact given.

Google maps says the address exists, and a business called Hourglass angel operates from there. The map appears to show a Shopping Mall. see http://goo.gl/maps/1srdF or below for full URL if you don't trust Short URL's

You can never really know for sure unless it is a well known retailer, but usually the security of the site is a good indicator of how 'real' it is. If a site has security verification links, check them. Also, most modern anti-virus software will warm you of known scam sties. So, if your anti-virus software says to stay away, find another place to shop.

Symantec has posted an article of a list of things to know to avoid fraud, and you can find the link in the source article.

I would say that it is indeed a legitimate online shopping site for the following reasons:

1. They have a toll-free number and a local area code 708 number... (verified personally)
2. They have online chat...
3. They have a "brick and mortar" presence in a mall...(address verified on USPS website)
4. They give their mailing and retail addresses...
5. The StellaService website: http://www.stellaservice.com/profile/hou...angel.com/ rates them as "Excellent" and lists them as being in business over 20 years...
6. They're on FaceBook: http://twitter.com/hourglassangel
7. Their shopping cart checkout is a secure site: HTTPS://www.hourglassangel.com/onestepcheckout/
