Any messengers between computers and Phones?

I am looking for a simple messenger that can be used on both a computer and a phone allowing someone on a computer to text someone on a phone and vise versa. I really dislike twitter as you have to put @blahblhblah every time and you have very limited messages. Anyone know any good ones? I'd like one that can be used on a wide variety of phones.
