Facebook is better with more features such as groups, game/games, poking, notes and events. Plus Facebook is more family friendly than just tweeting @ people. But I must say it is easier to find people on twitter and twitter is quite addicting. Even though you didn't want me to say it, Facebook has a lot more people that have joined it so your friends and family probably have Facebook not Twitter.
