Guys can you help me with my essay?
I've to complete a really tough essay and the deadline is tomorrow so I was wondering if any of you would like to contribute some useful tips or ideas. The title of the essay is "The effects of advertisements on the consumption pattern of students".

Hmm... I'll give it a shot.

Advertisements are normally based on their target audience. Example - they wouldn't be showing condom commericals on a cartoon network for children.

For students (aka teenagers) the companies focus on technology and junk food. They put it on networks that teenagers would watch at the time when we are most likely to watch it - not at 9:30 am when the students would be at school.

Using the right kind of music - rock, hip hop - or any other "right now" and trendy music really helps to sell a product. The music relates to the consumer (the student) and almost in a sense makes it more customized to the student audience.

They need to put something on commercials that looks ''interesting'' to the age group watching./what channel/what time they put certain ads out...

In addition to Seth F, the medium companies use to target students differ with age, social/economic means.

Traditional media, such as print, TV and radio won't be used as heavily because the target's market/demo. Because the age group is young, it's more likely that non-traditional media will be used, i.e. online, out of home (includes everything from billboards, to bus/train, posters, taxi, etc). Also, gorilla advertising (can be anything from streakers running around with the brand painted on their body, to graffiti type ads on buildings/streets/sidewalks, etc). Also there is celebrity branding...

Once the company decides on the demographics and psychographics of their target market, they can then input the criteria into a programs and find out what media they should advertise in to best reach their audience.

I guess you could say something like....because of the vast amount of info. available in the digital age, it is easier then ever for companies to profile their target audience and find the most effective advertising vehicle that will reach the audience. Therefore one can assume that the consumption of products will increase when the advertisements are running in high frequency and kept top of mind. Once the frequency of the ads decrease, so will the amount of consumption.....

Blah, blah, blah, hope it helped.
