I don't suggest you follow random people. You will eventually reach a limit and you will be unable to follow anyone else.

To avoid this I suggest twitter exchange sites http://www.socialclerks.com - all you need to do is add you twitter account there and start following other people, they have a simple automated process of earning and spending credits.
