What career path should I take regarding graphic design or creative?
Right now I'm doing some freelance graphic design work. I find it incredibly difficult to find new clients because of my social anxiety. The clients that I have currently love the work i do. My question is should I continue pursuing to create a career in graphic design or should I find something that's more suited to me and my personality. I tried working at an ad agency in the past and unfortunately because of my anxiety I'm I'm capable of doing so. Any ideas?? Want to do next.

Be an animator, or a manga artist. Learn manga, practice, get photoshop and a pen tablet, YOUR ALL set Smile Or you can be an animator and make games or movies for children. Those are ALL creative. Hope i helped Smile

Everybody has a problem finding new clients, however if design is what you are suited for then you can either – freelance at an agency, get an agent to represent you, go into business with someone who will find the work and handle the meetings.

Or get some treatment for your social anxiety – since you do not describe it (and I wouldn’t necessarily understand the description) I assume/hope that there is some form of treatment.

i suggest you look for something that you can cope with and not have to worry about your anxiety. it sounds like you already have some dedicated customers, so regardless you should still have them if you choose to fall back to graphic designing again. best of luck.

EDIT: to Veda C, i'm an animator, and its not as creative and fun as graphic design is, i totally don't think you fully understand it. also you are forced to interact with customers and coworkers aswell... this is no better. and wtf? an animator and a manga artist are 2 totally different things. please stop pretending to be something you know nothing about.

If you suffer from social anxiety to find clients, then you shouldn't be an independent freelancer.

Join up with a design temp agency or headhunter who can find freelance jobs for you. Look for a design job in the marketing department of medium to large companies because you just design and don't need to deal with clients at all. That would fit your personality and yet you are still in graphic design.

You should get some therapy for your social anxiety or you'll never get promoted to an art director or creative director.
