How am I supposed to find a job in a small town?
I am 19 years old and have been looking for a job for nearly a year now. I live in a small town and nobody is hiring up here. All of my friends I grew up with sell drugs and other things for money up here, and I just don't want that kind of life. I have had a few interviews but none resulted in hiring. I leave my resume with possible employers, I greet the managers in every store I apply for. Most store owners inform me they are hiring older people because apparently the older people need the jobs much more then I do. I am a trained Network Technician and have an R.O.P certification in Digital Communications. Can anyone give me advice on how I should go about finding a job? (And before people say so, I am persistent. I check into the shops at least once a week. I do not have a car/drivers license due to nobody around to teach me. All the money I earn doing yard work for neighbors goes straight to bus fare so I can get to town and apply for more jobs) I really need advice, I don't want to be like the people around me and rely on all the illegal crap they do for money.

You have a few choices. Trying to get a local job isn't one of them. You could do one of the following: 1) Goto College 2) Join the Military 3) Move to a different town (Relatives?) 4) Start you're own small business. --->Maybe be Technician on call to the area. Use craiglist, fb, twitter, google+ and pages, etc. You'll need to be creative in hustling for money. Good Luck.

You need to move, which I know isn't financially possible right now. A way to do that is to go to college for now (community college or a state college) and then transfer to a school out of state. If you go to a community/state college the Pell Grant will be enough to cover your tuition, then when you transfer, you will already have an Associates Degree. You can then either drop out and just use your Associates Degree, or you can finish school. Either way, you have now been relocated "for free".

Otherwise, join the military and SAVE your money. When your 4 years is up, don't return to your hometown.
