Can a hard hit to the head cause minor hair loss?
To make a long story short I got hit in the side of my head and it turned into the huge bump and now being months later I forgot all about. But I was scratching my head and felt a really smooth spot and I noticed its still a super minor bump and my friend says its kind of pinkish. but the craziest part is its about a half inch in diameter and there is no hair. I'm glad it's where you can't see it but what could that be?

Did you have a surgery on that part of your head? I think that was it... that happened to my friend.

You may have localized telogen effluvium or alopecia areata. Basically your hair follicles grow in cycles so that 10% are resting at any given point. This is called the "telogen" phase. Trauma to follicles or surrounding tissue can cause more of those hairs to go into a restive telogen phase for a up to six months. Alopecia areata is spotty hair loss caused by the immune system but can also be triggered by physical trauma and typically lasts less than a year. If more time passes and the bald spot lingers or spreads, go to a doctor and get some tests done. Until then, just keep the more important stuff protected (your brain)!
