What is the best way to advertise for a building company?
Currently making some business cards and having a website setup, also on facebook! It's covering the NW of England and we offer pretty much any building service.
Looking for an answer sort of out of the box if possible.
Cheers

You should advertise your website worldwide by taking the help of an advertising company. See the website for advertising at free of cost.

Narrow down what you do into specific services for specific people. Even if you can do all types of building work, it helps you reach your market more easily if you can say things like "We specialise in loft conversions in bungalows." You can then put leaflets through the doors of all the bungalows in those streets locally that are full of bungalows.

You could target family homes that have flat roof garages at the side of the house and offer to put extensions above them to increase the upstairs space.

Only give one message to one group of people at a time.

Think about what people are actually looking for. Many are improving their homes rather than moving. Maybe you can leaflet some about putting in downstairs toilets or refitting their existing bathrooms. Bathrooms and kitchens are always good for remodelling. Target houses that are 15 to 20 years old and likely to have kitchens and bathrooms that need to be replaced.

A lot of this means hitting the streets rather than hoping your business cards and webiste will bring the business to you.

Another thought is doing work for businesses. How large is your team? Could you throw enough people at a job to complete it over a weekend so that you minimise disruption to the business?

Good luck!

A great way to grow your building company is to raise awareness throughout your region. Promotional products have been studied and research shows that 84% of people are able to recall a company by their promotional products. There are so many possibilities available when using promotional products such as colors and designs. For some helpful information, take a look at an article I recently wrote about how promotional products can increase a business, I hope it helps you.

There is no two ways about it, in these very trying times spending money on unnecessary advertising is a big no no. But, if you are serious, why not go with newspaper ads. If your local newspaper company asks for too much to run an ad, then you can find out if they will allow you to place fliers, at a lower cost (usually very low) into the paper. This method can prove to be just as effective.
Of course, listing yourself and your company in the phone-book is not a bad idea either.
But, if you think you really can, then a billboard is really not bad.
Radio ads are really affordable as well.
But if you like the business card idea, then go to local hardware and give them out to anybody and everybody that goes in and out.
You have to reach the people, who want to build, where they are.
But if that all sounds like too much, well word of mouth is always good Smile
