Any tips on how to market yourself and get clients as a new muralist?
I just started up my own mural company not too long ago and would like to know if anyone has any tips on how to market myself to get more clients and jobs? (already did craigslist!)

Hey there,

Have you also tried putting yourself in eBay? eBay is also good market place for muralist. And there are some free and easy way to get publicity like publishing a news article in local news paper on Murals and its value in preserving Art, or something less serious Smile

Also, you must have a website, so people can know about you and your work.

I can help you with the last point if you wish. You can email me on maulik_dave@yahoo.com

Good luck.

Why would you use craigslist? That's very vague unless you live in a larger city. The internet covers huge areas, you need local, pinpoint local.

Try sites like myspace or facebook, join groups for your local area, maybe business groups, and network that way, facebook should allow you to advertise in their market section, so do that.

My suggestion is to get out there. Make up some flyers, find places with barren walls, especially ones prone to being graffitied, then go into those businesses and offer your services. They get a nice mural of whatever they like, especially good if you incorporate elements from their business into it, or business name for extra visibility, and they also get the added bonus that there'll be very little graffiti there in the future since people don't graffiti over art.

The footwork is your best bet. You can also call your local city hall and I think it's called the public works department, and tell them of your services. Offer to do murals over graffiti in graffiti prone areas to liven it up and prevent further defamation of property and increase visibility of an area.
