I'm just starting with twitter. Trying to figure at how it all works. Would prefer that not all my messages are public or everyone to read...

"A public message not addressed to anyone"
"@foo A public message addressed to http://twitter.com/foo" "d foo A _private_ message addressed to http://twitter.com/foo" (if they are following you) http://twitter.zendesk.com/forums/10711/entries/14023 http://twitter.zendesk.com/forums/10711/entries/14606 Ads |

Yes, it is called a "Direct Message" or DM. In Twitter you click on the direct message tab then select the username of the person you want to send it to from the drop down menu and type in the usual 140 characters.
You can only DM them if they are following you though. https://twitter.com/teleprompt |
