Why do some people make fake social networking profiles ?

like on facebook,twitter,foursquare etc..most of them are female profiles with hot profile pictures and with maximum friends?

All this social networks are filled with fake profiles and are unreal.If i'm you don't waste time on them they are really a waste of time.

Usually so people can ***** and moan or wear a "mask" so they feel better about themselves. I have a few friends with fakes, but that is so people can let out their feelings without actually letting people know that they are saying it.
