What are some good minors for English Majors?
I'm thinking about Marketing because I love to come up with ways to make people want stuff.
Any other ideas? Ads |

Engineering, because you will not get a job as a teacher except in some ghetto project school.

Marketing is a great choice, especially if it's something you truly love!
Some other common ones include: - Political Science -- a lot of English grads go into politics or law - Communications -- there are countless English-related jobs in media - Foreign Language -- PR firms love bilingual, highly articulate people - Cultural Studies -- there's a big demand for ESL teachers - Statistics -- there are a lot of research writing jobs out there - Psychology -- critical thinking and literacy is vital in social services - Non-Profit Management -- non-profits always need writers - Public Relations -- this is a very popular field for English majors Most importantly, pick something you'll enjoy and would want to actually use for a career. Don't do something based on potential pay -- markets and demands change, and predicting "in demand" jobs for down the road is always very tricky as a result. If you *love* something, though, you can almost always find a way to use it. Good luck! |
