Is it illegal for a school to make a fake instagram?
So this 1 girl got suspened because on instagram she swore. And apparently its because the principle made a fake account and followed her and many other students. Now the school made another account that is called "(name) middle school" and theyre following alot of students and in the bio it says ill be watching you.

Did she swear at someone at school (i.e. teachers, principals, faculty.)? If so, then it's happened before. Bosses have fired their employees because they said something bad about them behind their back, on Facebook (most of the time).
If so, that sucks, and if not, it still sucks to have your school expel you for swearing online.

Why would it be illegal? If they want to see what you are doing on instgram, they can. It's public, not private. Especially if it's being done during school time, they have that right. If you know about it, what's the problem?

Schools stand "in loco parentis" which means they act as your parents during school time. That means they can do almost the same things parents can.

If students are on there and identify themselves as being from your school, then they are representing the school when they are on there and the school can be involved in that. Just like a lady got fired for racist and threatening twitter comments against the Obama. She got fired because she identified her work place and it reflected negatively on the employer.

I'm sure part of it is to make sure no one is posting child porn (sex pictures of each other) or bullying other kids and I applaud them for taking a pro-active stance.
