Do the Oil Companies own each other?

They used to compete with each other by having 'gas wars'. Today, they all have the same price and increase the price 'up' to equal the same price at every station. It's as though, 'if BP advertises $3.69," the rest follow suit, If BP can get $3.69, so can the rest of them. Instead of a Mobil, Phillips 66 or Shell dropping their price to draw a customer in............they all charge the same price. We are at their mercy and they give none. I'd sure like to see a GAS WAR!!!! They must be affiliated with each other. You think?
Gas Wars "way back when", was when the gas stations dropped their prices a few cents and then a few more. Drivers would drive around looking for the best price.

I know (Amittkothari) there is no gas war at this time, I was reminiscing and wondering why they don't compete with each other any more. Which prompted my question.....

Hi jackie,

A. There is No GAS WAR.
B. All Oil Company have a Joint Understanding & mutual Consent on how to drive out the customer
But it seems to us that they have a gas war.
C. Oil Company Basically Create a MONOPOLY Groups to Earn profit. if they remain in Price WAr
the customer is benefited in that.. Which they don't want
D. Oil have an Inelastic Demand ie(If price increase there is no Effect in Consumption)
