Is it true that myspace is not as popular anymore like Facebook?
I noticed noone ever uses a myspace anymore and Myspace seems like a fad and I also heard that Myspace is going to be obsolete and shut down because EVERYONE USES FACEBOOK NOWADAYS! Is this true? You dont see so many people use myspace or hear anyone ask if that person has a myspace account, its all Facebook. Is Facebook going to still always be popular?

Myspace is definitely no longer popular. In my high school, 90% of the kids have a facebook, and only 20% have a myspace. I don't think facebook will always be this popular. Eventually something better will come out, and everyone will switch to that. It's just a fad; it won't last forever.

Facebook has 750 million users as of July 2011.
MySpace has 50 million users as of July 2011. MySpace has been in decline for several years now and is close to being on it's last leg, Facebook is both the present and the future. |

Facebook has definitely beat MySpace but I think musicians still use MySpace cause they can showcase their music a little easier. Younger kids still seem to like myspace cause of the profile decor they can do.
But I think the person who said Facebook wont last forever is correct. People are getting tired of the changes and security breaches. Plus something just may come along and be more popular than FB. |

Actually MySpace isn't classed any longer as a social network site, but now it's classed a social entertainment destination. Even once Facebook became open to everyone the two sites were markedly different, with different aspects, foundations and starting points. MySpace was a social network originally, where as Facebook was originally a college networking site initially for Stanford.
The person that said Facebook is the both the present, and the future isn't seeing what I have seen. Facebook based on some of the posts I've seen is, or has started to decline in popularity slightly. Usually once that starts, it's just a matter of time before it becomes more noticeable. I'm not surprised though that there is some decline, I think that Facebook still has about two more years before it starts to to falls as has MySpace. I personally never was attracted to Facebook, once it became open to the general public. MySpace served, and still serves me better. I'm not a musician, employee, comedian or anything else special, I'm just a normal user, of MySpace. What, and where MySpace goes from here, with their new owners is not yet fully known. I don't think that the end has come for MySpace, as it may evolve over time. I don't know that it will ever regain it's former glory, that it had in the past, but with the site having moved into the social entertainment field, it could remain a player on the internet for years to come. I believe Facebook, is looking at going public with a stock offering in the future, but I wouldn't be a buyer. Especially the way things are right now with websites that have gone public, in the recent past. If there are security issues that's definitely going to hurt the value if they do go public, and users start to leave in large numbers. I think if that's the case then the best opportunity may have passed by. |
