Is it stupid to come out as gay in facebook?

I want to know if it's stupid to come out on facebook. Like just posting 'I can't hide it anymore! I'm gay'. Is that a smart thing to do? I am still in high school and none of my family is on facebook so? I mean like i change my sex Preferance. What will happen if the word goes around school? I am bi not gay.

It may not be the smartest thing at your age. But you shouldn't hide your true feelings. You do realize that it will get out and your family would probably find out, so your better off telling them first. It's entirely up to you. If you come out depending on your peers it could be devastating or it could be positive. Unfortunately it's usually devastating as people aren't very understanding.

People are too open on facebook. It's like Pandora's box, what comes out thru facebook can't be taken back or controlled.

If you're gay then ok, but don't broadcast it to the world. It's nobody's business but your own and whoever you choose to tell. I'm sure it's difficult holding something like that inside but if you put in on FB you lose control. Instead of being empowering you end up sabotaging yourself.

Believe me, later on in the professional world you need to be SUPER careful what you attach to your name. I have classmates (med school) who have been talked to by the school administration for putting stupid, unprofessional shit on their profiles for the world to see.


Oh btw, i just saw RvP's post. Fuck him. He has a picture of a half naked dude flexing (himself?). If he's not having sex with men already you know he's at least repressing it.
