How can I tell if a conversation with a girl I like on facebook Is going well?

There's this girl I like and I talk to her a little in school but not that much cuz I'm shy. So I decided to talk to her via facebook but I couldnt tell if the conversation was going well or if she was being polite.
She sent smileys at the end of her messages and seemed pretty enthusiastic but I'm really not sure if she's just trying to be nice...

What r some signs that a convrsation is going well and do u think my conversation went well?

It went well if you didn't have to think too hard about what to say back, if she replied fairly quickly and if she seemed interested in what you were saying. if she ever starts the conversation then you know you're in with a pretty good chance
