Why are Christians starting rumors on Facebook that marines like to beat up professors?

This weekend I've seen a lot of Christians posting a story on Facebook about a Marine that got mad at his professor for disagreeing with him and then the Marine got up and punched the professor in the face. Why are Christians spreading nasty rumors about our military like that? Not all soldiers are violent and beat people up for believing different things.

Well, with over 2 billion "christians" on the planet it is unlikely they are all starting rumors about a marine and his/her professor.
1. Did this event really happen?
2. How dumb do we all have to be to address this question?

:Obvious", please rethink your comment. The lack of religion is not the same as Atheism. There are three major seats of power in any society, political, financial and religious. Some regimes eliminate religion because it is power base, not because it teaches the existence of a god. The wholeMao/Hitler killed in the name of Atheism is trotted out on anti-atheist pages, but has no bearing in reality.

Very few Atheists really care what religious people think. Seriously. We just don't like it when they push those beliefs.

When you have a pair of Atheists show up up your front door trying to convert you to Atheism, THEN you can talk about Atheists pushing their beliefs (or lack of them).
