What is the best way to sell beautiful and healthy Havanese puppies?
6 weeks ago my dog had adorable litter of 8 Havanese puppies. I wanted to see if anyone had advice on the best way to find new forever homes for our puppies. I have created website, Facebook fan page, flyers and postcards. Now, I need a way to distribute all of this to promote our puppies.

Thanks.

maybe get a small ad in a dog magazine and local papers? Nice website - and I would love to own Ozzi - he is so lovely. Maybe have an "open day" locally for potential buyers to view? Also your vet may be happy to promote your pups? Best of luck.

ps So glad you aren't letting them go for Christmas, much better to let serious owners wait.

Dog shows/events? Hang the fliers up around town? Advertise on other dog websites? Look for want ads?
...But you're probably not going to find someone who wants to pay 1300 for a dog looking in the paper. I would consider lowering your price. And next time, most good breeders have potential homes lined up before they even mate their dogs. You should do that.

Does your Havanese Club keep lists of breeders with puppies available, as happens in the UK? Might be worth letting them know. Also, the owner of the stud dog should be helping spread the word - they are at least 50% as responsible for the arrival of these puppies as you are. Put an advertisement on your vet's notice board too.

I've not looked at your website, but keep your asking price to a reasonable level - good homes are always far more important than income!

Add I have now checked your website - I'd standardise the date of birth of your puppies, even if some were born into the next day - it just looks rather odd that some are said to be born 22nd October, and some 23rd. Make them all born 23rd. And I don't see any Championships? If not, I'd suggest you'll be lucky to get your asking price for these puppies, even if they are registered (with the AKC of other official registry of the country of birth?)

What has your breeding mentor suggested?

If i where looking for "beautiful and healthy" puppies then i would be looking at the national breed club website for breeder referrals.

PS - this could be seen as advertising, which is against forum rules!

Add - OMG ROFLMAO OMG

You're asking $1,300 for APR registered dogs?!?! You're crazy! APR is a puppy mill registry, not legit or even recognized by anyone worth anything! They're registration is worth about the same as anything you could type up on your computer and print out! In addition you don't mention any genetic testing on the parents, or any genetic guarantee on the pups. No show titles, no nothing.

Good luck in finding suckers willing to pay that ridiculous price for BYB pups....

The best way to is take out a breeder ad on AKC when you register the pups. Why would you need fliers or post cards? A decent breeder already has a list of potential buyers- usually from shows or working trials they have attended.

ADD: Oh lmao! They are registered with America's Pet Registry?? Never mind. There's a sucker born every minute. I guess you had better hope you can find 8 of them. You don't say anything about OFA certifications. Odorless dogs?? Really?? I'm dying- it's too ridiculous. And FWIW the holidays are the WORST time to place puppies- most of them end up in shelters when people discover they are actually work. Sheesh.

be a reputable breeder list in breed club

yours are just over bred pet quality
what health testing did parents have, back 6 generations?
what titles have been won?
you are keeping till 12 weeks, right?
you will take back for any reason at any age, right?
usually other breeders would be at your door if beautiful and healthy.

The best way to sell healthy, beautiful puppies is to have more homes on your waiting list than pups than will be produced in your planned litter. Then do your breeding. This is what my breeder does and it insures her pups get quality homes with families that are willing to pay her asking price and are anxious for her dogs. And down the road, it also means that these families return for multiple dogs over the years since her dogs are quality dogs with excellent temperaments, health and confirmation.

Please, please, please make sure you screen the families getting these puppies and please don't place these pups until they are the appropriate age just to get them into homes as Christmas presents. Puppies are not presents--resist this temptation. It is worth mentioning given the time of year.

I do hope you are aware that your question could be construed as against the site's terms of service as advertising and may be reported. You may wish to remove your site's link.
